i did my first ever backpacking adventure (solo too!) in the lake district this summer it was super fun and im already planning where i'll go next
Day 1 I kayaked with my brother in Derwentwater and even swam a bit (open water phobia be damned) and then walked from there to Castelrigg Stone Circle and then to Threlkeld. I camped at Setmabanning Caravan Park (more info) which was very small and peaceful - I don't have much to say about the campsites as I pretty much just used them to sleep.
Day 2 Was from Threlkeld to Patterdale via Aira Force. I camped at Side Farm Camping Site (more info) which was right on Ullswater! It was really nice but also a lot busier. However! If you're genuinely hiking/biking/etc without a car they'll always let you stay even if the sign says they're full which was really nice!!
Day 3 Final day I walked over St Sunday Crag because I thought "haha the hsr guy!" without clocking that 840m is a mountain. So this was Hard work especially in 20+C weather with big heavy backpack. I ran out of water but there was enough fresh water for it to be ok!! I did however get incredibly sunburned :( Anyway, I walked to Grasmere where I was picked up and that ended the adventure!
I loved this so much but giving the obligatory do your research and stay safe :3 Don't forget suncream like I did and make sure water's safe before drinking (and bring purifier even if you don't think you'll need it)!! It was my first attempt though and other than those 2 mistakes, it all went really well!!!! I did do it solo (because no one wanted to stay in tents and walk all day when they could have a hot tub) but was close to family in case anything went horribly wrong o7
