Every now and then, I am hit with the worst Sims brainrot known to man. The September Rot of 2024AD has consumed every thought to such an extent I wanted to document some of it.
My favourite parts of the Sims are completing goals and building! Least favourite part is probably creating Sims. Not like it's bad I just SUCK at it. I've only played Sims 4 and a DS MySims when I was younger - don't even remember which one but I ate it up anyway (lie: I used to play Freeplay (iPad kid maxxing) but we don't acknowledge that). I do want to play more MySims games and go back to try some of the older Sims games but that hasn't happened yet. (lmk your favourite game in the series if you want and I might prioritise it if I'm feeling nice)
Feel the need to make it clear that I HATE EA. I hate EA so much. Born to hate EA, forced to enjoy the Sims.
Challenges
In the Sims, challenges are self imposed rules and goals use to make gameplay more interesting! A legacy challenge is where you start with one 'founder' Sim who starts with nothing and will bring in the next generation of Sims who will continue to build on the legacy when the previous one dies!
These can be customised however you like or you can use a challenge someone else has invented. To see more rules and ideas - check out The Sims Legacy Challenge website.

Pack Legacy Challenge
The Pack Legacy Challenge is a challenge created by rosannatxt that is focused around getting the most out of each pack in the game!
More info here!
It's the first challenge I've done and a big one to try starting off with... I do put way too much thought into Sim Lore (tm) but I am not a storyteller/writer so think of this mostly just as a summary of events.
Family Tree
I've seen many Legacy Challenges before and always thought they looked cool but I couldn't decide on which one to actually do until I saw this one mentioned. I've never really explored what each pack has to offer and would honestly never be able to tell you which feature is from which pack so I also thought it would be a fun way to almost learn about game features and get inspiration for other aspects of the game.
I knew I wouldn't be completely strict with the rules but I did want to follow them as much as I can. For example, I never play with aging on (or even age up sims ) so I knew that would probably stress me out. In saying that, I DID initially have slow aging enabled! ...Until I spent hours looking for a fireleaf. As of now, I've just kept it off and age up Sims when it Feels Right, but I may turn it back on in the future.
As for other rules, you only have to complete the non-optional goals but I wanted to clear everything. Cheats are allowed but I've kept them off... Apart from when looking for that fireleaf. They don't spawn in certain seasons and I wasn't willing to wait around for it to get back to a season they could spawn in. Mods/CC is allowed but I'm only using mods that enhance gameplay/QOL.
Meet Lily! She's my founder Sim!! Initially living in a small (poorly decorated) cottage, she spent most of her free time fishing and foraging - completing related aspirations pretty early on. She is a full-time author but also writes her own novels!
After meeting June on Cupid's Corner, the couple decided to move into a bigger house and prepare for a child. June picked up a part-time job as a barista and Lily made the hard decision to quit her job to focus on writing her own stories.
...What they didn't plan for were twins! Daisy and Adrian were born and were the main focus until they grew older.
Once they were older, the house was renovated. Making room for them to have their own separate rooms to decorate as they pleased. This was also when their personalities began to show: Daisy being more into active activities and playing outside such as riding her bike and Adrian being more interested in education and video games. Both achieving excellent grades in school!
It was this time that Lily and June got married and Lily went back to work despite being a successful author, although June continued to work part-time to look after the children.
Greenhouse park built!
To be continued...
Notes: I literally always make Sims lesbians so I was planning on getting her to be with a man for the first time ever but could NOT find a squeamish Sim ANYWHERE!! I eventually gave up and just used Cupid's Corner with no cooldowns to spam through matches until I found a squeamish Sim (June). Love wins.
Lily and June both aged up to adults when Daisy and Adrian became children.
Your 2nd generation Sim will be a perfect mix of their parents, in love with the balance of nature but absolutely despising everything related to living in nature. Their desire for balance can be found in working out, taking good care of the body and soul and living a minimalistic lifestyle. Everything in their life is organized and under their control and this doesn't make them an easy sim to live with because they expect nothing else but perfection from everyone else too.

Rules and thoughts
Normally, I just play the sims by creating a Sim (normally based on... me), marrying a babygirl, and then spending hours maxing out every stat, aspiration, and job. I do enjoy doing this and it really scratches my brain but I decided I would try something different for a change!I've seen many Legacy Challenges before and always thought they looked cool but I couldn't decide on which one to actually do until I saw this one mentioned. Generation 1: Outdoor Retreat
The founder of your legacy challenge will be a hopeless romantic looking for the one to take on the journey of a lifetime. Your sim grew up in a fisher family and, to this date, it’s still is one of their favorite things to do. Next to fishing, your sim loves to read and their perfect life is a simple house amidst nature where they can spend all of their time exploring the land with their partner. However, there is one downside; the love of their life hates bugs and creepy crawlers.Name:

Greenhouse Park
Link to buildMy first big build was a park in Henford-on-Bagley! I wanted a pretty background for some photos of my Sims and got a bit carried away.
The main feature is the big greenhouse that took me way too long to decide on a design for. Inside, there's a tiny cafe and a study.
I'd also like to mention how long the bridge took me!!! I originally wanted it to be diagonal and a different style but nothing was working!!!!! I finally got it to be usable at least.
Mods
Mods/CC I use:
Last updated: 21/09/24
- More Columns in CAS Does what it says on the box... 2 columns is awful.
- Universal Hair Overlay Custom colours for all hair.
- Twisted Mexi... T.O.O.L.: Takes Objects Off Lot - complete control over objects. Scale, rotate, move objects etc.
- No Refresh Cooldown for Cupid's Corner For the dating app thing.
- LittleMsSam's Mods... Sleep All Night: Prevents sims from waking up when energy is full.
- Pose Player Adds to option to play poses/animations in game. Most of my poses are just from The Sims Resource.
Better BuildBuy: Organized Debug, better filters, expandable catalog, favorites and more!
Smarter Pie Menu: Instead of digging through pie menu options just search instead!
Better Inventory: Allows you to search the sim inventory by object name.
Change Into Towel Everywhere: Sims will change into a towel for a few minutes before changing back into clothes.
Teleport Any Sim is on the same page as Pose Player and used to teleport sims to a location they can then be posed from!
I'm trying not to use CC because I went overboard last time but I am using some HSR CC created by this tumblr user. In general, if I do download CC, chances are that I just got it from TSR.
